Sometimes its easier to know what is not jade than what is. Serpentine, Garnet, Dunite, Diopside, Idocrase\Vesuvianite and others all make it fun and damn confusing! Hope this page helps your search.
As beautiful as any jade, above is translucent gem serpentine- to the right is a opaque serpentine boulder.The "magnet of truth" is on both.
This is serpentine again. This look is probably the serpentine I see most misrepresented as nephrite jade-its easy to see why. With all this type of serpentine--the magnet and the gold veins are the keys to id it.
